Mine explosion occurs in Azerbaijan

A landmine explosion occurred on September 10, 2026, in the Papravand village of the liberated Aghdara district, APA reports.

According to a joint statement by the Press Services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General's Office, and the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA), the victim—Sarkhan Bakhtiyar oglu Rustamzade, born in 2005 and a resident of Tartar district—was riding a horse through an uncleared area when the horse stepped on an anti-personnel mine. Rustamzade sustained light injuries during the incident.

ANAMA personnel safely evacuated the citizen from the hazardous zone.

The Tartar District Prosecutor's Office is currently investigating the incident.

Following the event, ANAMA, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Prosecutor General's Office reiterated their urge for citizens to strictly adhere to safety rules, pay close attention to landmine warning signs, refrain from touching suspicious objects, stay out of unfamiliar areas, and avoid trespassing into fenced-off zones.
