Kamran Aliyev discusses prospects for cooperation with Russian Prosecutor General

A bilateral meeting has been held between Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev, who is on an official visit to the Russian Federation, and Russian Prosecutor General Alexander Gutsan, the Prosecutor General’s Office told APA.

Expressing satisfaction with the current level of cooperation between the prosecution authorities of the two countries, Kamran Aliyev noted that these relations cover two areas. Thus, alongside studying the law enforcement practices and new legislative institutions of both countries, cooperation is also developing steadily in the areas of providing legal assistance within the framework of specific criminal cases and extraditing persons who have committed crimes.

For his part, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Alexander Gutsan emphasized that there have traditionally been high-level cooperation relations between the prosecution authorities of the two countries.

Thanking Kamran Aliyev for accepting the invitation to take part in the official visit, his Russian counterpart shared his views on expanding areas of cooperation. Discussions were then held on specific criminal cases.

At the conclusion of the meeting, a Cooperation Program for 2027–2028 was signed between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.

Confidence was expressed that the document would contribute to further strengthening interaction between the prosecution authorities of the two countries and expanding practical cooperation and the exchange of experience in areas of mutual interest.
