Azerbaijan has spared no effort to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), expand practical joint activities and further enhance the organization’s role in the system of international relations, President Ilham Aliyev said in his address to participants of the CICA Media Forum, APA reports.
“Covering 90% of the Asian continent and bringing together 28 member states, CICA is an important and unique dialogue platform that contributes to peace, security and stability in the region and serves to strengthen mutual trust and cooperation among member states in order to promote sustainable development,” the President said.
He noted that Azerbaijan, which has chaired the organization for the past two years, has demonstrated determination and consistency in implementing confidence-building measures.
“During our chairmanship of CICA, high-level meetings held in Baku in various areas, as well as events organized among think tanks, experts, business circles and young people, have contributed to intensifying interaction within the organization and further strengthening Azerbaijan’s position as a venue for dialogue and multilateral cooperation,” President Ilham Aliyev said.
