Any information disseminated in the digital age has the potential to affect relations between societies and states, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said in his address to participants of the CICA Media Forum, APA reports.
The President noted that the organization of the first CICA Media Forum in Baku at Azerbaijan’s initiative and its holding ahead of the CICA Summit are of particular importance in drawing attention to the organization’s significant role internationally and to the joint activities carried out with member states during Azerbaijan’s chairmanship.
According to President Ilham Aliyev, the forum titled “Building Trust Through Media in a Polarized World” provides a valuable opportunity to demonstrate that information and communication are important components of confidence-building.
“Media is no longer viewed solely as a means of exchanging information, but also as an important instrument of public diplomacy, mutual understanding and regional cooperation,” the President said.
He noted that Azerbaijan pays particular attention within CICA to developing the media and communication sphere, expanding bilateral and multilateral media cooperation with member states, and improving information exchange mechanisms.
“Today, the world is going through a complex period characterized by rapidly changing geopolitical realities, growing security challenges and fundamental transformations in the media sphere. In the digital age, where different interests and views collide, any information disseminated has the potential to affect relations between societies and states,” President Ilham Aliyev emphasized.
