The CICA Media Forum serves to build bridges toward mutual understanding, Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Kairat Sarybay said at the Media Forum titled “Building Trust Through Media in a Polarized World” in Baku, APA reports.
Sarybay noted that strengthening mutual understanding and trust is of particular importance for CICA.
He thanked the Azerbaijani side for the high-level organization of the forum.
“Holding such a forum is extremely important amid geopolitical tensions, climate-related challenges and economic pressures. Such events can either further aggravate and deepen a lack of understanding or build bridges that pave the way for and ensure mutual understanding,” the CICA Secretary General said.
He noted that efforts in this direction should also be strengthened at the regional level in order to ensure mutual understanding and cooperation globally.
“One of the platforms that serves to find ways forward at the regional level is CICA. As you know, 28 different countries have joined CICA as member states. For us, the key issue is to bring together countries with different experiences and ensure the relevant exchange of these experiences,” Sarybay said.
The CICA Secretary General also highlighted Azerbaijan’s contributions in the areas of connectivity and digitalization during its chairmanship of the organization.
He emphasized the timely nature of the media forum, noting that such platforms contribute to strengthening dialogue, mutual understanding and trust among different countries.
