Economic development, digital systems, transport networks and environmental sustainability have been among the key areas of focus during Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Samaddin Asadov said during a panel session at the Media Forum titled “Building Trust Through Media in a Polarized World” in Baku, APA reports.
Asadov said digitalization and connectivity are among the main directions of regional integration.
“Connectivity and digitalization are among the key areas of our mission. The development of sustainable, modern and green high-level infrastructure is one of the main steps toward strengthening economic integration and people-to-people ties in Asia,” the deputy minister said.
He noted that a number of multilateral initiatives have been implemented during Azerbaijan’s chairmanship in the areas of data protection, cybersecurity, digitalization of transport and digital transformation.
“These platforms have brought together ministries, regulatory authorities, logistics operators and technology leaders, creating opportunities for direct dialogue and practical cooperation,” Asadov said.
The deputy minister added that a number of events have also been organized under Azerbaijan’s chairmanship to strengthen data protection and exchange experience in climate security, transport digitalization and the information sphere.
He said specialized training programs on personal data protection are expected to be developed during the remainder of the year, while initiatives related to sustainable transport infrastructure and environmentally friendly mobility will continue.
“We do not regard any of these merely as innovative initiatives. These are steps toward the long-term development of institutional mechanisms and national capacity,” Asadov said.
