The peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia is proceeding along four main tracks, Chairman of the Board of the Center of Analysis of International Relations Farid Shafiyev said during his speech at the Central Asia–Mongolia–Caucasus–Afghanistan (CAMCA) Regional Forum held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
He said that after the Second Karabakh War, the geopolitical landscape of the region changed fundamentally, and the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia is currently ongoing.
“We have four tracks. The first is the peace treaty, the second is delimitation, the third is transport connectivity, and the fourth is contacts between civil societies,” Shafiyev noted.
According to him, although certain difficulties have arisen recently, including those related to cultural heritage, positive dynamics have generally been maintained.
Shafiyev also emphasized that it is impossible to establish sustainable peace in the South Caucasus without Georgia. In his opinion, it is important for the three countries of the region to form a common platform for political and economic cooperation.
He also mentioned the Middle Corridor, energy and integration processes among other important factors affecting the development of the region. Shafiyev said that energy cooperation is not limited only to traditional oil and gas, and that alternative energy is also important in this regard.
