The widespread dissemination of disinformation and the misuse of artificial intelligence technologies to create fake information and materials directly affect public trust, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said in his address to participants of the CICA Media Forum, APA reports.
“The media, which covers ongoing developments and communicates them to society, is a force capable of influencing the formation of public opinion, mutual trust and understanding, as well as opportunities for dialogue and cooperation,” the President said.
He noted that the accountability and responsibility of the media are increasing further, particularly at a time when the role of social media and digital platforms in the information space is rapidly expanding.
“All this further raises the requirements for the professionalism and objectivity of media institutions and makes it necessary to develop a shared sense of responsibility in the information sphere,” President Ilham Aliyev said.
He stressed that reliable information should become a quality indicator not only of professional journalism but of the entire information environment.
The President also emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation among state institutions, media organizations, digital platforms, journalists, researchers and civil society, adding that improving media literacy and ensuring the responsible use of new technologies are key conditions for building sustainable foundations of trust.
President Ilham Aliyev said the CICA Media Forum is an important event in terms of enriching cooperation in the media sphere with new content and directions.
“I am confident that the current Forum, attended by prominent media representatives from friendly countries, will contribute to the development of media cooperation within the CICA space, the implementation of joint projects and the exchange of experience in ensuring honest, effective and agile communication,” he said.
