A strong geostrategic triangle has formed between Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Sodyq Safoev said during his speech at the Central Asia–Mongolia–Caucasus–Afghanistan (CAMCA) Regional Forum held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.

He said that the meeting of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan held in Baku contributed to the formation of a new line of geostrategic cooperation among the three countries.

“In a sense, this created a strong geostrategic triangle. I think it is impossible to overestimate the significance of this event,” Safoev said.

He noted that this process is taking place against the backdrop of strengthening regional cooperation in Central Asia. According to Safoev, while fragmentation and the weakening of multilateral diplomacy are being observed around the world, the opposite trend exists in Central Asia, with cooperation among the countries deepening.

Safoev also assessed Azerbaijan’s joining the format of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia as a full-fledged participant as one of the indicators of the expansion of regional cooperation.

He also said that the pace of economic development in Central Asia is high and that GDP growth in the region is approximately three times higher than the global average.
