The organization of the first CICA Media Forum in Baku at Azerbaijan’s initiative and its holding ahead of the CICA Summit are of particular importance, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said in his address to participants of the forum titled “Building Trust Through Media in a Polarized World,” APA reports.
The President said the event is important in terms of drawing attention to CICA’s significant role internationally and to the activities carried out jointly with member states during Azerbaijan’s chairmanship.
President Ilham Aliyev also noted that the forum provides a valuable opportunity to demonstrate that information and communication are important components of confidence-building.
“Media is no longer viewed solely as a means of exchanging information, but also as an important instrument of public diplomacy, mutual understanding and regional cooperation,” the President said.
