A Russian major general who took part in the war in Ukraine has been arrested, according to the Mash Telegram channel.
Sergey Nikitushkin, 51, heads the material and training base department of the Russian Armed Forces’ Main Directorate for Combat Training.
Mash reported that he was placed in pre-trial detention on Tuesday evening. It is not yet clear what charges or allegations he is facing.
Nikitushkin was promoted to the rank of major general on 9 December 2024.
He is also reported to have been involved in the modernisation of tank training grounds in Russia.
Russian authorities have not publicly disclosed further details of the case.
