A forum of the heads of competition authorities of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) member countries was held in Shusha, organized by the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, APA's Karabakh bureau reports.
The event brought together heads and senior representatives of competition authorities from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Hungary and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, as well as the Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States and representatives of relevant state institutions and the private sector.
At the opening ceremony of the forum, Chairman of the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control Elnur Baghirov, Deputy Minister of Economy Samed Bashirli and OTS Deputy Secretary General Merey Mukajan delivered speeches.
The speakers emphasized the importance of deepening economic integration among OTS member states, expanding cooperation in the field of competition policy and strengthening joint platforms for cooperation.
It was noted that the main purpose of the forum is to harmonize the approaches of member states in competition policy, expand the exchange of legal and institutional experience, and contribute to the development of regional cooperation.
As part of the event, a panel discussion titled “Competition Policy as One of the Driving Forces of the OTS: Regional Cooperation” was held.
During the discussions, participants exchanged views on developing competition policy in the context of regional cooperation, strengthening coordination among competition authorities and forming a competitive common economic space within the OTS area.
