On October 7, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov participated in and addressed a meeting of the foreign ministers of Central Asian states and Azerbaijan held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone as part of his working visit to Turkmenistan, APA reports.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the importance of holding the meeting ahead of the high-level Summit in terms of conducting preliminary discussions on the main areas of cooperation. It was noted that Azerbaijan’s admission last year as a full member of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia format is an indicator of deep integration processes between our countries based on historical and cultural ties, mutual trust, and shared strategic interests.
Special attention was paid to the environmental agenda in the speech. Along with the consequences of climate change, the Aral Sea and water-related problems, serious concern was expressed over the negative impact of the continued decline in the level of the Caspian Sea on coastal infrastructure and the ecological situation. The importance of a systematic scientific approach, information exchange, and regional cooperation in addressing these problems was highlighted.
In conclusion, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed confidence that the documents to be adopted and the agreements to be reached based on the results of the meeting would provide a clear direction for future long-term cooperation.
