“Currently, around 400 Azerbaijani students are studying in Lithuania,” Lithuanian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Kęstutis Vaškelevičius said in his speech regarding the “Study in Europe” exhibition held in Baku, APA reports.
The ambassador said that eight universities and colleges from Lithuania are participating in the exhibition to be held in Baku this year: “These higher education institutions offer broad educational opportunities in biotechnology, laser technologies, sports and other fields.”
According to him, around 400 Azerbaijani students are currently studying in Lithuania. In total, more than 16,000 foreign students are studying at the country’s higher education institutions, and this figure continues to grow.
The ambassador noted that innovation has been one of the key elements of Lithuania’s economic transformation over the past three decades.
“Currently, the economy is based on areas such as innovative solutions, artificial intelligence and FinTech. We want to share this experience with the region, including through student and university exchanges, as well as intergovernmental cooperation and international agreements,” the diplomat emphasized.
The ambassador added that Lithuanian universities offer more than 500 English-language programmes for foreign students at bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels. The diplomat invited Azerbaijani students, their parents, as well as universities and teachers to learn about educational opportunities in Lithuania.
