Georgia PM highlights importance of restored Tbilisi-Baku passenger trains

“The full commissioning of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line a few months ago was an event of great importance for Georgia’s international transit role,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said at a government meeting, APA’s local bureau reports.

He added that the resumption of passenger transportation by rail between Tbilisi and Baku after a six-year break is of great importance for Georgia.

The head of government emphasized that important projects are being implemented to modernize Georgia’s railways. According to him, 200 railcars have already been purchased, while the delivery of another 200 railcars and the addition of around 50 new locomotives to the locomotive fleet are planned in the coming months.
