A surplus of $1.7 billion was recorded in the current account balance (CAB) in the first quarter of 2026. This is $557.1 million, or 48.7%, higher than in the same period last year, Samir Nasirov, Director of the Statistics Department of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, said during a briefing dedicated to the disclosure of the balance of payments, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, the current account surplus was equal to 9.5% of gross domestic product (GDP).
Note that the current account surplus amounted to $1.1429 billion in the same period last year.
