Azerbaijan imposing criminal liability on attributes and symbols aimed at the fragmentation of territorial integrity

Criminal liability is determined for displaying, spreading, preparing, acquiring, transporting, or carrying attributes or symbols aimed at the fragmentation of the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan, it was reflected in the proposed amendment to the Criminal Code discussed in the Human Rights Committee of the Milli Majlis and recommended to the plenary session of the Parliament, APA reports.

According to the proposed Article 281-1 of the Criminal Code, displaying, spreading, preparing, acquiring, transporting or transporting attributes or symbols aimed at the fragmentation of the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan is punishable by restriction of freedom for a period of up to 5 years or imprisonment for the same period. will be punished.

If the provided acts are committed by a group of persons or an organized group, that has colluded in advance, deprivation of liberty will be punished from 5 to 8 years, and if those acts are committed by foreign organizations and their representatives, from 7 to 12 years.
