President’s speech at 8th Congress outlines key contours of Azerbaijan’s national security and development strategy

A roundtable on the topic “Key messages in President Ilham Aliyev’s speech at the 8th Congress of the New Azerbaijan Party” was held on October 6, organized by the Academy of Public Administration under the President and the Baku Political Scientists Club, APA reports.

The roundtable was opened with introductory remarks by Urkhan Alakbarov, Rector of the Academy of Public Administration. The discussion session then began under the moderation of Zaur Mammadov, Adviser to the Rector of the Academy, Chairman of the Baku Political Scientists Club and Associate Professor.

During the discussions, an extensive exchange of views was held on the key messages voiced by President Ilham Aliyev in his speech at the 8th Congress of the New Azerbaijan Party. The participants discussed the theses put forward in the President’s speech regarding the priority directions of Azerbaijan’s domestic and foreign policy, the country’s strategic goals, regional processes, national security issues and the development of public administration.

It was noted that President Ilham Aliyev’s speech at the 8th Congress outlines the key contours of Azerbaijan’s national security, ideology and development strategy at a new stage. It was emphasized that the theses voiced in the speech serve as an important roadmap for society and the state as a whole, individual structures and institutions, as well as political and social groups. It was stated that everyone should take these theses as one of the main criteria in their activities and contribute, within the framework of their work, to the implementation of the strategic goals set.

The discussions also focused on the new tasks facing Azerbaijan following the full restoration of the country’s territorial integrity and state sovereignty. It was stated that strengthening the state, protecting national interests, reinforcing security, ensuring sustainable economic development and further strengthening Azerbaijan’s international position are among the key priorities in the new historical stage.

Participants in the roundtable noted that the issues raised in President Ilham Aliyev’s speech are important not only in terms of current political processes, but also for analyzing Azerbaijan’s long-term development prospects. It was stated that, amid changing regional and international conditions, continuing a consistent policy based on national interests and properly assessing the new challenges facing the state and society are of particular importance.
