"There is no doubt on positions of our government and Iranian government on the territorial integrity of both countries," said President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev as a response to claims of an Iranian expert participating at the international conference under the motto “South Caucasus: Development and Cooperation” held at ADA University.
President has stressed that officials of the Azerbaijani government are very responsible in relations with both neighboring and other countries and it is necessary to look at expressions of officials in inter-state relations.
"I think that your comments have nothing to do with Azerbaijani-Iranian relations. Positions of our government and the Iranian government on the territorial integrity of the two countries are very clear and there is no doubt. Many times, we and our Iranian counterparts declare to the public. There (5th Congress of World Azerbaijanis in Shusha - red) have been more than 400 participants. A democratic society in Azerbaijan can say can what they want, they can have positions that we will agree with or disagree with. However, we did not manage the participants, we did not give them a thesis on what to say. Azerbaijan is a free country and everyone - our citizens, foreigners - is free to say what they want. The head of the state added that any words if someone who is not an Azerbaijani citizen says something in Shusha - Shusha is an open city, thousands of people come there and express their dreams - even if they attend an event organized by Azerbaijan, it should not cause a reaction.
