The “High-Level Observer Day” of the “Unity Strength – 2026” joint military exercise involving servicemen from Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Türkiye has been held in Azerbaijan, APA reports.
According to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense, the event was organized at the “Gizilgaya” Training Center of the Azerbaijani Army in the Karabakh economic region.
Defense ministers of participating and observer countries, chiefs of general staff of their armed forces, as well as other high-ranking guests attended the event.
Azerbaijani Defense Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov welcomed the participants and provided information about the course of the exercise, its tasks and the sequence of their implementation.
Turkish National Defense Minister Yasar Guler and Uzbek Defense Minister Lieutenant General Shukhrat Kholmukhamedov, who addressed the event, emphasized the importance of such exercises in strengthening friendship and brotherhood between the countries and forming a unified force. They also wished the servicemen success in their future service.
In accordance with the exercise plan, servicemen of the participating countries performed practical tasks based on various combat scenarios, as well as different tactical episodes.
During the exercise, personnel were transported to the area of operations by armored vehicles, combat operations were conducted in populated areas, passages were opened through minefields, raids were carried out on the positions of simulated terrorists, facilities were cleared of a simulated enemy and seized, and armored vehicles were destroyed using anti-tank weapons.
The tasks were carried out with fire support from combat helicopters, armored vehicles and artillery, under conditions of interaction and coordination.
Activities were also demonstrated to prevent an aerial UAV attack on a ship, liberate an offshore platform, a vessel and hostages seized by terrorists, as well as destroy a terrorist base by conducting an amphibious landing on an island.
At the same time, tasks carried out at the “Garabaghlar” Training Center in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the “Garaheybat” Training Center in Baku, as well as the “Boyuk Zira” training area in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea were monitored online.
The exercise, held from September 21 to October 1, is aimed at expanding cooperation among the armed forces of the participating countries, improving the practical skills of personnel, exchanging experience and strengthening friendly relations.
Observers positively assessed the professionalism of the personnel participating in the exercise.
At the end of the event, gifts were presented to participants and a group of servicemen who distinguished themselves during the exercise were awarded medals.
Local and foreign media representatives also attended the “High-Level Observer Day.”
