UK sanctions Georgian political analyst known for anti-Azerbaijan stance

The United Kingdom has imposed sanctions on four Georgian nationals over their involvement in spreading Russian propaganda, APA reports.

According to APA’s local bureau, the sanctioned individuals are Nikoloz Mjavanadze, Giorgi Iremadze, Mamuka Pipia and Paata Abuladze. The measures are part of the UK’s expanded sanctions regime related to Russia.

The expanded sanctions list also includes Marat Kambolov, Alan Gagloev and Sergey Tolmachov, who are linked to Georgia’s occupied regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

The restrictions imposed on the sanctioned individuals include asset freezes and travel bans to the United Kingdom.

Nikoloz Mjavanadze is known as the founder of the Sezoni television company, Director General of the Taonews news agency, Chairman of the Union of Human Rights Defenders of Georgia, as well as a lawyer, journalist and political analyst.

He is known for pro-Russian views and has repeatedly made statements and organized activities critical of Azerbaijan.
