Ticket sales for the additional services will begin on October 2.
The additional services will provide passengers with the opportunity to travel during the daytime as well as at night, allowing them to select departure times that better suit their plans on the Baku-Tbilisi-Baku route.
Under the new timetable, the currently operating Baku-Tbilisi-Baku train will depart from Baku at 23:00 and arrive in Tbilisi at 08:41 the following day.
The train will depart from Tbilisi at 11:00 and arrive at Baku Railway Station at 20:26.
The new service will depart from Baku every day at 09:10 and arrive in the Georgian capital at 19:11.
In the opposite direction, the train will depart from Tbilisi at 22:00 and arrive in Baku at 07:57 the following day.
A number of changes have also been introduced to further improve the online ticket purchasing process for the Baku-Tbilisi-Baku route and prevent possible misuse.
Passengers registered on the ADY website and the ADY Mobile application must verify their personal account information using MyGov ID.
According to ADY, the measure is aimed at protecting passengers’ interests and ensuring a more reliable online ticket purchasing process.
Once personal account holders enter their FIN code in the relevant section, all necessary information will be displayed. Verification of the personal account must be completed before a ticket can be purchased.
Foreign nationals must enter the name of the country of their citizenship and a telephone number registered in that country in the relevant section.
After the telephone number is verified using an OTP code sent via SMS, personal information can be changed. Users who registered previously must also verify their telephone number via OTP in order to purchase tickets.
ADY noted that the launch of additional services on the Baku-Tbilisi-Baku route became possible after the sides completed the necessary joint preparatory, technical and organizational work carried out over a lengthy period.
Azerbaijan Railways said it will continue taking measures to improve the quality of international passenger transport services, ensure comfortable and safe journeys for passengers, and meet growing demand.
