Iran is continuing preparations for a broader response in the event that the United States resumes large-scale military attacks, APA reports, citing Reuters.
According to the report, Tehran is seeking to avoid further escalation through negotiations, but Iranian officials have little confidence that the talks will lead to a peace agreement.
Iran’s leadership believes that any new US military campaign should be met with a stronger response than before.
Three senior Iranian officials and a person familiar with the discussions told Reuters that high-ranking commanders are reviewing plans to expand the range of potential targets.
The potential targets may not be limited to US-linked facilities and could also include sites in countries supporting US military operations, as well as locations beyond the Middle East, according to the report.
