Georgian government increases financial support for Azerbaijani cultural institutions in Tbilisi

Next year, funding from Georgia’s state budget for the Mirza Fatali Akhundov Museum of Azerbaijani Culture and the Heydar Aliyev Tbilisi State Professional Azerbaijani Drama Theatre, operating in Tbilisi, will be increased, APA’s local bureau reports.

According to the preliminary draft of Georgia’s 2027 state budget, 84,000 lari (approximately AZN 55,000) will be allocated to the museum next year, while 422,200 lari (AZN 276,000) will be allocated to the theatre.

The state funding allocated for the museum and theatre is 6,000 lari and 45,200 lari higher year-on-year, respectively.

The museum will spend 54,000 lari of the funds on salaries and will be able to earn 30,000 lari from services permitted by law.

The theatre will allocate 390,400 lari of the funds to salaries and will be entitled to earn 30,800 lari in revenue from services within the framework of the legislation. An allocation of 1,000 lari is also envisaged for other expenses.

It should be noted that the draft law has already been submitted to the Georgian Parliament.
