Putin calls proposals for mutual cessation of strikes absurd

Russian President Vladimir Putin called the proposals for a mutual ceasefire during the Ukrainian conflict absurd, head of state said at the plenary session of the Valdai International Discussion Club, APA's correspondent in Moscow reports.

"They tell us, 'Let them stop attacking your refineries, and you stop attacking their ships. Let them export civilian cargo and agricultural products.' But what about our other civilian cargo? Like oil and petroleum products? If they stop attacking, we'll have more diesel fuel, which is so needed in, say, the US. We'll have more," Putin said. The president noted that Russia already has plenty of diesel fuel, but it won't reach global markets because of sanctions.

"And in response, we will have to cease strikes on targets that are economically sensitive to them. Well, you'll agree, it seems absurdly simple. We can discuss all this, but we must do so based on mutual interests," Putin stated.
