Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev said that the Azerbaijan-European Union partnership is of strategic importance, APA reports.
He made the remarks in a post on X after receiving a delegation of the Council of the European Union’s Working Party on Eastern Europe and Central Asia (COEST), consisting of representatives from more than 20 European countries.
Hajiyev said that the Azerbaijan-EU partnership is developing on the basis of the principles of mutual respect, equality and shared benefit.
“Political dialogue has intensified through high-level contacts in the recent period, while practical cooperation has gained significant momentum,” he noted.
“Azerbaijan’s contribution to Europe’s energy security and its strategic role in regional connectivity, particularly through the Middle Corridor, are among the important areas of EU-Azerbaijan relations. At the same time, cooperation is being expanded to clean energy, digital transformation and innovation, as well as investments,” Hajiyev said.
“This year, we expanded our security dialogue to the Political and Security Dialogue format and are working on a new comprehensive bilateral agreement, as well as updated Partnership Priorities.
The evolving bilateral agenda creates opportunities to translate shared interests into practical results,” he added.
