Iran’s foreign ministry has summoned the British ambassador to Tehran over “false accusations against Iran” relating to a suspected plot at RAF Fairford in England, Iranian broadcaster IRIB and other domestic news agencies have reported, Al Jazeera reports.
According to the reports, Majid Takht-Ravanchi, the ministry’s political deputy, conveyed his country’s “strong protest” against the British government’s accusations to the ambassador.
Takht-Ravanchi rejected the British government’s claim that a sabotage plot at the military base, which is used by the United States, was linked to Iran, emphasising that the UK needed to provide an explanation and a correction of its “inappropriate approach towards Iran”.
