Pashinyan’s victory could accelerate the peace process with Azerbaijan, APA-Economics reports.

This was stated in an assessment by the rating agency S&P Global Ratings.

S&P assessed the results of Armenia’s parliamentary elections positively for the country’s creditworthiness.

The agency’s report notes that the victory of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s Civil Contract Party in the June 7 elections ensures continuity in the political course and could strengthen the government’s ability to advance peace negotiations with Azerbaijan.

According to S&P’s assessment, the election results provide the government with a new mandate, reducing short-term political uncertainty and supporting the country’s credit profile.

At the same time, the agency emphasized that Armenia’s efforts to expand ties with Western countries will remain challenging due to its existing economic and energy dependence on Russia.

Note that, according to the preliminary results announced by Armenia’s Central Election Commission, the Civil Contract Party has retained its majority in parliament.
