Azerbaijani CEC approves 8 more presidential candidates

The Azerbaijani Central Election Commission (CEC) has approved the candidacies of eight more people for the post of president, CEC Secretary Arifa Mukhtarova said at meeting of Commission held today, APA reports.

The matter of confirming the nominations of self-nominated Sarvan Karimov, Matlab Mutallimli, Abutalib Samadov, Fikrat Yusifov, Yusif Baghirzadeh, Arzuman Abdulkarimov, Yunus Oghuz and Qulamhuseyn Alibayli was discussed at the today’s meeting of The Azerbaijani Central Election Commission (CEC).

After the discussions, the matter of approval of the nomination of Sarvan Karimov, Matlab Mutallimli, Abutalib Samadov, Fikrat Yusifov, Yusif Baghirzadeh, Arzuman Abdulkarimov, Yunus Oghuz and Qulamhuseyn Alibayli was put to a vote andapproved.

With that, the number of people whose candidacy for the presidency has been approved has reached 15.

On December 19, the CEC approved the candidacy of Ilham Aliyev, nominated by the New Azerbaijan Party for the early presidential election.

Note that on December 7, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on holding early presidential election in the country on February 7, 2024.
