Baku – APA. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva have attended the opening of the administrative building of Azerbaijan Boxing Federation.
The ceremony was attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse, chairman of the Organizing Committee of the first European Games Mehriban Aliyeva. President of Azerbaijani Boxing Federation Kemaladdin Heydarov informed the President and his wife about the work done.
It was noted that the building was built in a modern architectural style and with the latest technology, covers an area of 25 thousand square meters. The administrative building of the Boxing Federation will operate as the boxing center. The complex is fully compliant with the requirements of the international federations. There are also gyms with all the conditions for training and competition.
The head of state first cut the ribbon symbolizing the official inauguration of the administrative building of the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation.
A bust of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev was erected in the foyer of the building. A photo stand reflecting the care and attention of national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev to the development of sports in the country was created in the center.

The head of state and his wife met with officials of the Federation and the boxers who will represent our country at the first European games.
Welcoming boxers, President Ilham Aliyev said: “We're expecting medals from you. I am sure that it will be so. Such wonderful conditions were created. Of course, now the results should be even higher. In recent years our boxers have already made us happy and shown excellent results. I remember that at the Olympic Games in London, they have shown high results. I said that because of the bias of referees our athletes, who were worthy of the title of Olympic champions, got bronze medal. In fact, during these games all saw that we were worthy of the first place. I am confident that our boxers will restore justice in the upcoming competitions in Baku. Women also had high results. There was European champion in London. I watched her performance. In that match, she won, but the victory was given to the opponent. There was such an injustice. This happens sometimes in sport. Therefore, the main thing that the athlete does not lose heart and continue to prove himself in the ring. Nothing is possible to hide from the audience. Everything is clear. Therefore, I wish you to achieve the competition and represent our country.”
In the gym, equipped with the necessary equipment, the head of state and his wife watched the training of juniors and young boxers.
