Rustam Orujov: “I will not go to Tokyo to raise the flag, but to raise it”

“I did not expect that I would be the flag bearer. It was a surprise for me,” said judoka Rustam Orujov who will be a flag bearer of the Azerbaijani national team in the Summer Olympics, APA reports.

R. Orujov said that he is happy to be elected flag bearer. Rio Olympic silver medalist, European champion, world championship silver medalist added that his goal in Tokyo will be championship: “My joy has no limit. I was flag bearer in European games. It is a pleasant surprise that I was elected for the second time. I express my gratitude to those who consider me worthy to carry the flag. It is an honor for me. However, I want to state that I will go to Tokyo for not carrying flag but to raise it and to be sounded our anthem.”
