Azerbaijan finds 64 kg of drugs on border with Iran, detains smugglers - PHOTO

Smuggling of narcotics with a total weight of 64 kilograms and 332 grams (64 kilograms of 300 grams of marijuana, 32 grams of opium) and 100 psychotropic "DimenhyDrinate 50 mg - jalinous" pills from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan was prevented by the Border Troops of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan (SBS) in the service territory of the "Goytapa" border detachment, the Press Service Center of the State Border Service told APA.

On December 24, at 23:50, the movement of 4 unknown persons from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan was observed by the border guards in the service area of the border post located near Ostayir village of Yardimli district.

One of the border violators who attempted to flee the crime scene Rahimov Khalid Teyyub - a resident of the Ostayir villgae of Yardimli district was detained by the border guards.

As a result of urgent border search and operational measures carried out together with the officers of the Yardimli District Police Department on December 25, the identities of other members of the criminal group who ran from the incident scene by taking advantage of the area's complex terrain were determined, residents of the Yardimli district - Rahimov Saig Tayyub and Jabbarov Javid Aliisa, and other smuggler Gasimov Nurlan Fitat were detained.

Operational-investigative measures are underway.
