The first congress of the International Decolonization Front, which includes the territories once French colonies, is being held in Kanaki (New Caledonia) on January 23-24, APA reports.
The event is attended by parliamentarians, political party leaders, heads of non-governmental organizations, heads of public movements, and others fighting for the independence of New Caledonia, French Polynesia, Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Guiana, and Corsica.
On the first day of the two-day event, the congress participants visited the Senate of Traditions of New Caledonia, the headquarters of the Kanak Socialist National Liberation Front (FLNKS), the main political force fighting for the independence of New Caledonia, and the collective supporting New Caledonian political prisoners, and held discussions.
The organization could not participate in the congress since a visa was not issued to a representative of the Baku Initiative Group.
It should be noted that the International Decolonization Front was established in July 2024 in Baku by representatives of the last French colonies, with the support of the Baku Initiative Group.
