Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in the economic, energy and transport sectors has developed dynamically in recent years.
This trend is also reflected in bilateral trade. In 2025, trade turnover between the two countries more than tripled compared with 2024, reaching $795 million. In January-May 2026, bilateral trade increased by 33% year-on-year to $144 million.

More than 130 Uzbek companies currently operate in Azerbaijan. Uzbek companies are also involved in economic projects in Azerbaijan's liberated territories.
Cooperation between the Azermash joint venture and Uzbek partners has resulted in the production of Chevrolet and Isuzu vehicles. To date, more than 10,000 Chevrolet vehicles and over 300 Isuzu vehicles have been manufactured.
The Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Investment Company, established in 2023, also plays an important role in expanding mutual investment cooperation. The company contributes to financing and implementing promising projects in various sectors in both countries.
At the same time, the Intergovernmental Commission serves as one of the main platforms for developing economic, trade and investment ties. The commission has held 15 meetings to date.
One of the key areas of energy cooperation is the oil and gas sector. The Neftegaztekhnologiya joint venture, established on the basis of Uzbekistan's OZLITINEFTGAZ Institute and SOCAR NIPI Neftegas, has been operating in this field since 2016.
Transport links between the two countries are also expanding. Transit freight between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan reached 1.4 million tons in 2025.
In air transport, AZAL operates seven weekly flights on the Baku-Tashkent-Baku route and two weekly flights between Baku and Samarkand. Uzbekistan Airways operates four weekly flights on the Tashkent-Baku-Tashkent route, while Centrum Air operates three flights per week.
A 100-hectare pomegranate orchard named "Dostluq Bagi" (Friendship Garden) is also planned to be established jointly with Uzbekistan in Azerbaijan's liberated Fuzuli district. Azerbaijani and Uzbek varieties of pomegranates are expected to be cultivated as part of the project.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the project was held online in 2024, while Uzbekistan's agriculture minister visited the Friendship Garden on May 4, 2026.
In addition, the foundation of Uzbekistan Park was laid in Baku's White City area in 2025 with the participation of the presidents of the two countries.
The five-hectare park will be designed in the shape of the map of Uzbekistan and is expected to feature a museum, cinema, amphitheater, tower, restaurants and cafes serving national cuisine, retail and souvenir areas, a zoo and a hotel.
