President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited the Independence Monument in Tashkent on August 23, APA's correspondent in Tashkent reports.
President Ilham Aliyev laid a wreath at the monument.
The monument was erected in the center of the Yangi Uzbekistan (New Uzbekistan) complex to mark the 30th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence.
The Independence Monument is crowned by an image of the Humay bird with its wings spread wide, symbolizing peace, freedom, kindness and happiness.
The monument was designed on the instructions of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
