A “Two Countries – One Championship” program should be developed, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said at the third meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, APA's special correspondent reports.
“Next year, our countries will host an important sporting event, which we have also discussed – the FIFA youth World Cup. In this regard, it is necessary to develop a large-scale ‘Two Countries – One Championship’ program that will bring together our sporting, cultural and youth events to be held before the start of the tournament.
“We also propose establishing the Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan Games. Within this framework, young people could compete not only in sporting arenas but also in intellectual competitions. It would be very good if we tasked our teams with this,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
