President of Uzbekistan: We will hold Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Uzbekistan by year-end

We will hold Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Uzbekistan and the second forum of university rectors in Azerbaijan by the end of the year, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said this in a joint press statement with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, APA's special correspondent reports.

“Our close cultural and humanitarian ties serve as a reliable bridge of friendship between our peoples. Together with Ilham Aliyev, we will inaugurate the new building of the Pedagogical University named after Nizami Ganjavi. I had planned this for a long time. The university already existed; it was established in 1935, but its building did not meet the requirements of the modern era. When we laid the foundation, I hoped that I would definitely participate in the inauguration of this building. Today, that historic event will become a reality.

“We will also launch the construction of Azerbaijan Park in New Tashkent. I am confident that these facilities will become vivid symbols of the unbreakable brotherhood and rapprochement of our peoples. The schedule of our mutual humanitarian exchanges is quite dynamic. By the end of the year, we will hold Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Uzbekistan and the second forum of university rectors in Azerbaijan.

“One of the significant creative events will be the production of a joint feature film dedicated to Navoi’s literary heritage. We have reached an agreement on this. We will comprehensively support public and youth ties and create opportunities for communication, creativity and the exchange of innovative ideas,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

He noted that, according to FIFA’s decision, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan will jointly host the youth football World Cup next year, which he described as the world’s second most prestigious tournament.

“As part of this major sporting event, we have proposed adopting a large-scale state program – ‘Two Countries, One Championship’,” the Uzbek President said.
