Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan relations are built on a very solid foundation, President Ilham Aliyev said this in a joint press statement with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, APA's special correspondent reports.
“Each of the projects we have discussed today has its own value. Taken together, as Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted, they give our relations an unprecedented character. We have covered practically all areas, from energy, transport, investment projects, tourism, cooperation in the mining industry, the automotive industry and agriculture to the processing sector. Even today, at the conclusion of the official events in the bilateral format, when we lay the foundations of new projects or inaugurate new ones, simply listing them is enough to see how multifaceted our cooperation is.
“I also forgot to mention cooperation in the banking sector. Azerbaijan’s leading bank is entering the Uzbek market, SOCAR is entering Uzbekistan’s retail market, and as for projects related to the exploration of oil and gas reserves, we have, in principle, already approached the final stage. We hope that exploration drilling and the exploration work being carried out will yield good results next year, after which we will begin drilling production wells.
“In other words, today we are already talking about prospects. The fact is that our bilateral relations today are built on a very solid foundation, both spiritually and materially.
“Such a synthesis is not encountered very often in world politics, but it exists in our relations. The aspirations of the governments of both countries toward development, creating better living conditions for people and joining efforts are the most important factors behind our success,” the head of state said.
