Central Bank of Azerbaijan to decide on interest rate this week

The Central Bank of Azerbaijan will once again make a decision on the interest rate this week, APA-Economics reports, citing the Central Bank.

A press conference on this matter will be held at the Central Bank on May 6.

At the beginning of the year, the Central Bank reduced the interest rate by 0.25 percentage points to 6.5%, lowered the lower bound of the interest rate corridor to 5.5%, and the upper bound to 7.5%. However, in its decision on April 2, it kept the parameters of the interest rate corridor unchanged. It was noted that when making decisions on the interest rate corridor, factors such as the alignment of actual and forecast inflation with the target range (4±2%), risks arising from increasing geopolitical tensions in the nearby region, the current situation in global and domestic financial markets, domestic macroeconomic trends, as well as the characteristics of the transmission of monetary policy decisions to the real sector are taken into account.

It was also stated that the next decision on the parameters of the interest rate corridor will be made based on the direction of forecast and actual inflation, as well as updated results of macroeconomic analyses.
