A visit to Türkiye was organized for participants of a series of awareness sessions for young media representatives held on June 17-19, 2026, within the framework of the Energy Dialogue Platform, APA-Economics reports.
On the first day of the visit, the young media representatives visited SOCAR’s office in Istanbul and familiarized themselves with the company’s activities.
During an information session held there, Mikayil Yusifov, Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Communications and Government Relations at SOCAR Türkiye, provided detailed information on the company’s multifaceted activities in the brotherly country, implemented projects, achievements and strategic goals, and answered questions from media representatives.
On the next day of the program, the young media representatives traveled to Izmir, where an information session was held at SOCAR Türkiye’s administrative building in Aliaga.
Ahmet Gülhan, Deputy Head of Finance of SOCAR Türkiye’s Refining and Petrochemical Business Unit, delivered a presentation and provided detailed information on the activities of the Petkim petrochemical complex and the STAR Refinery, their growing production capacity and planned future projects.
In his presentation, Uygun Değirmenci, Chief Executive Officer of SOCAR Terminal, spoke about the terminal’s operations, measures taken in recent years to expand the company’s logistics capabilities, achievements, and efforts aimed at increasing efficiency and service quality in cargo transportation operations.
Mehmet Özenbaş, Corporate Director for Sustainability and HSE at SOCAR Türkiye, discussed the growing role of environmental, social and corporate governance approaches in the modern business environment and provided information on the company’s projects in operational efficiency and sustainable development, as well as digital solutions implemented at its facilities.
The participants’ questions were then answered.
Later, field tours were organized for the young journalists to the Petkim petrochemical complex, the STAR Refinery and SOCAR Terminal. During the tours, participants became acquainted with the operational activities and modern technological capabilities of these facilities.
