Opening ceremony of â€œUzeyir Music Dayâ€ International Music Festival held in Azerbaijanâ€™s capital

Baku. Ulkar Gasimova â€“ APA. Event on the 125th anniversary of outstanding composer Uzeyir Hajibeyov and opening ceremony of â€œUzeyir Music Dayâ€ International Music Festival have been held in Heydar Aliyev Palace today, APA reports.

Prior to the event, photos and books about life and creative activity of Uzeyir Hajibeyov were exhibited in the foyer.

Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev said Uzeyir Hajibeyliâ€™s music and scientific heritage is immortal.
â€œUzeyir Hajibeyliâ€™s music has been included into the gold fund of the world culture. Uzeyir bey made essential contributions as a publicist, playwright, scientist, public figure and pedagogue. His masterpiece â€œKorogluâ€ opera, â€œO olmasin, bu olsunâ€, â€œArshin mal alanâ€ musical comedies are splendid examples of the national music culture, they are still loved and demonstrated,â€ he said.

Minister said â€œUzeyir Music Dayâ€ International Music Festival had started. He noted that musicians from more than ten countries would participate in the international event.

The event continues with the performance of the works by Uzeyir Hajibeyli.

â€œUzeyir Music Dayâ€ International Music Festival will last till September 28.
