"Our dialogue within the framework of CICA has become more substantive and effective thanks to Azerbaijan's chairmanship," President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said during his speech at the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), APA reports.
He stated that changes taking place in the modern era are creating new threats, and addressing them requires close cooperation and joint solutions.
The President emphasized that they are closely monitoring the conflict in the Middle East and the humanitarian situation in Gaza, calling for the swift restoration of peace and stability in the region.
"When dialogue weakens, the risk of making wrong decisions increases. It is important to prevent contradictions from turning into armed confrontations. This is precisely where we see CICA's special role," he stated.
According to Mirziyoyev, the organization's main objective should be to establish a comprehensive infrastructure of trust in Asia.
"This envisages the creation of a sustainable system of relations based on clear and predictable steps, as well as the fulfillment of commitments undertaken. This will make it possible to prevent conflicts in a timely manner and find mutually acceptable solutions," the President of Uzbekistan noted.
To this end, he proposed developing a concept for establishing an infrastructure of trust in Asia. He stated that the concept should define the main directions of CICA's development and provide for concrete measures to expand ties and cooperation between states.
The President emphasized the importance of developing joint transport and energy projects, trade and digital connectivity, as well as cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
Mirziyoyev stated that the rapid development of technologies and climate change are also presenting countries with new challenges.
"Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing our daily lives. While opening up extensive opportunities, it also creates serious risks. We must do everything possible to ensure that digital progress benefits all countries and that disparities in technological development are reduced," he emphasized.
To this end, the President of Uzbekistan proposed an Asian initiative on technological trust and the responsible use of artificial intelligence. According to him, it would be appropriate to establish an expert platform within CICA to develop this initiative. On this platform, specialists from member countries could prepare common recommendations and coordinate practical measures.
Mirziyoyev also proposed uniting the efforts of states in adapting to climate change.
He put forward the establishment of a partnership on climate resilience in this area, emphasizing the importance of introducing water-saving technologies, developing green energy and organizing continuous monitoring of environmental conditions.
The President of Uzbekistan noted that such initiatives could help reduce potential risks and preserve natural resources for future generations.
