Palestine has called for ensuring a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the territory and the start of reconstruction work, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine Varsen Aghabekian Shahin said during her speech at the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), APA reports.

She stated that the war in the Gaza Strip has caused large-scale destruction and severe humanitarian suffering.

According to the minister, “Palestine’s national goal is to end the occupation, establish an independent State of Palestine based on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and achieve a just solution to the refugee issue in accordance with international resolutions.”

The Palestinian minister called on CICA member states to take concrete steps to protect civilians, prevent forced displacement, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, reject settlement and annexation policies, and implement international resolutions.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, meanwhile, called for a firm stance in support of the rights of Palestine, which is a member of CICA.

“A sustainable solution requires the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. CICA is a valuable platform for reconciling different priorities and deepening mutual understanding. This summit should provide clear direction for more effective CICA activities in order to strengthen lasting peace and prosperity on our continent. We will continue to work resolutely to achieve these goals,” Hakan Fidan emphasized.

Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani noted the importance of a just resolution of the Palestinian issue and the establishment of an independent State of Palestine alongside Israel in order to ensure lasting peace in the region.

Deputy Foreign Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt Mohamed Abu Bakr said that the Palestinian issue is of central importance to achieving peace and stability in the Middle East.

The Egyptian diplomat noted the importance of complying with international law and ensuring the rapid, safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. He said they reject any attempt aimed at forcibly displacing the Palestinian people from their land.

The Deputy Foreign Minister added that a sustainable solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict should envisage the Gaza Strip remaining an integral part of Palestinian territory and the formation of a credible political perspective allowing for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the two-state principle.

Mohamed Abu Bakr also stated that the recent war in Iran had exposed the risks associated with the expansion of conflicts and escalation, the consequences of which could spread beyond the region. He noted that Egypt has strengthened its contacts with regional and international partners in order to reduce tensions and has condemned attacks against Gulf states.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog also touched upon the Palestinian issue in his speech.

“I hope that we will be able to see a vision of peace in the Middle East — in Lebanon, Syria, Gaza and with our Palestinian neighbors — and that we will fight together against all forms of terrorism,” the Israeli President added.
