“I hope that we will be able to see a vision of peace in the Middle East — in Lebanon, Syria, Gaza and with our Palestinian neighbors — and that we will fight together against all forms of terrorism,” Israeli President Isaac Herzog said during his speech at the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), APA reports.
The Israeli President stated that direct contact and dialogue are important for this:
“Because in the interconnected world of the 21st century, cooperation has become a necessity. As terrorism, hunger, diseases and other transnational threats cross political borders, no country in the world can confront these global threats alone. Likewise, no country can benefit from economic development and technological progress in isolation.”
He noted that the expected visit of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to the region to meet with the leaders and representatives of Central Asian countries is very important.
“I propose that we continue to find common ground, choose dialogue instead of division and cooperation instead of hostility. I tell all neighboring countries, the peoples of this region and Asia that Israel wants and seeks to further expand cooperation, partnership and joint development with each of you. As for our aspiration for peace in the world, it should be clear that peace cannot coexist with terrorism, and cooperation cannot flourish alongside boycotts,” the Israeli President emphasized.
