The Islamic Republic of Iran is seeking to improve relations with its neighbors, and no country should allow its territory to be used for armed attacks against Iran, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said during his speech at the Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), APA reports.
He noted that the Strait of Hormuz had remained open and operated without problems for decades.
According to Gharibabadi, the main reason for the current difficulties is military aggression against Iran and the naval blockade imposed on the country.
“The security of navigation is linked to the security of coastal states. At the same time, it is impossible to defend the right to free navigation without taking into account the security of coastal states,” he emphasized.
The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister stated that in order to establish peace and stability in the region, as well as ensure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, the aggression must end, the naval blockade and sanctions against Iran must be completely lifted, and the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity must be respected.
