A deal on diesel fuel between the United States and Russia could have a positive impact on the tense situation in oil markets, Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, APA's Moscow bureau reports.
The Kremlin official, however, stated that the diesel deal would not be able to fully stabilize the tense situation in oil markets.
"Russian diesel fuel has begun entering global markets, and this will have a certain positive impact on the stabilization of oil markets, although it will not be able to fully stabilize them."
He emphasized that global markets are currently in a "very tense situation," noting that this is also related to Russia's inability to export significant volumes of oil and petroleum products.
Peskov declined to name countries other than the United States that are interested in receiving Russian diesel fuel supplies.
"For certain reasons, it is not worth discussing this publicly."
It should be noted that last week, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump reached an agreement on the supply of Russian diesel fuel to American and global markets.
Today, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak announced that Russian companies are ready to begin exports, but the necessary procedures will take two to three weeks.
