"Azerbaijan is effectively chairing CICA, and Belarus, as an observer state, is ready to contribute to expanding the organization's activities," Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko said during his speech at the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), APA reports.
He thanked the Azerbaijani leadership for the high-level organization of the forum and emphasized the importance of joint efforts to strengthen trust between states and peoples.
"At present, trust has become seriously lacking in international relations, while the potential for conflict has increased significantly. Wars lead to loss of life, the separation of families, the destruction of cities and forced displacement. CICA plays an important role in developing multilateral approaches to promoting peace, security and stability in Asia. Belarus supports coordinating the conference's activities with organizations such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Eurasian Economic Union. This cooperation could contribute to the development of unified logistics routes, trade opportunities, and industrial and economic ties across Eurasia."
Sergeyenko emphasized Belarus's commitment to international law and the UN Charter, stating that there is no alternative to the transition to a multipolar world order.
The Belarusian official also proposed an initiative to develop a charter on diversity and multipolarity in the Eurasian region. According to him, the document should enshrine the principles of the indivisibility of security and the responsibility of states, while promoting economic cooperation and equal decision-making mechanisms.
