Türkiye is committed to strengthening the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) as the most comprehensive security platform in Asia, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said during his speech at the 7th CICA Summit, APA reports.
The Turkish minister thanked Azerbaijan for hosting the summit, welcomed CICA's 29th member and congratulated Sultan Hajiyev on his appointment as the organization's new Secretary General.
Hakan Fidan stated that in an era characterized by the rise of Asia, a stronger CICA is needed to ensure peace and prosperity.
The minister emphasized the importance of expanding transport links and diversifying energy corridors to strengthen economic security and connectivity. He outlined four priorities in this regard.
Hakan Fidan stated that the first priority is the Trans-Caspian East-West Middle Corridor, noting that this route could significantly enhance the efficiency of the Belt and Road Initiative. According to him, the Middle Corridor will not only facilitate trade between Asia and Europe but also contribute to the development of people-to-people ties.
The Turkish Foreign Minister identified the Development Road project as the second priority. He noted that the project will connect the Gulf with Europe through Iraq and Türkiye, helping to promote stability and prosperity in the region and beyond.
Hakan Fidan stated that the third priority is increasing synergy among various regional cooperation mechanisms in Asia. He emphasized that strengthening coordination between CICA, the Organization of Turkic States, the Economic Cooperation Organization, ASEAN and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will help develop connectivity across the continent.
The minister noted that the fourth priority is digital connectivity. He emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation in science, technology and innovation to effectively utilize the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies.
