Cambodia supports transforming the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) into a full-fledged international organization and advancing negotiations on drafting the organization’s Charter, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia Hun Manet said during his speech at the 7th CICA Summit, APA reports.
“CICA guides us more firmly toward dialogue, cooperation and peaceful coexistence, keeping us away from confrontation, division and threats,” he noted.
The Prime Minister stated that Cambodia considers expanding trade among CICA members, increasing the resilience of supply chains, energy security, developing transport connectivity and sustainable economic growth as priorities. The country also supports strengthening cooperation in tourism, education, digital transformation and innovation.
The speech also touched upon the fight against transnational crime. It was stated that information exchange among states and cooperation between law enforcement agencies should be strengthened to combat cybercrime and online fraud.
The Cambodian representative emphasized that this cooperation should be carried out on the basis of respect for national sovereignty, international law and the UN Charter.
