2nd International Music Festival started in Gabala

The festival organized with the support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation began with the works of Azerbaijani composers, APA reports.

Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s Azerbaijan National Symphonic Orchestra played the pieces composed by Azerbaijani composers Gara Garayev, Fikret Amirov, Vasif Adigozalov and Ogtay Zulfugarov.

A number of concerts and musical events will be held within the festival until August 5. Lovers of classic music will delight in music performed by the US, Russian, British, French and Italian talents, as well as UK Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The festival’s program also includes master classes for young musicians.

The festival will be officially opened on July 30.

Famous American jazzman, Grammy winner Al Jarreau will miss the festival because of health problems. Rector of Baku Academy of Music, one of the organizers of the festival, Professor Farhad Badalbeyli told APA that Cuban well-known jazzmen will replace Al Jarreau in a concert program on July 27.
